1. How is writing important to the development of civilization? Is the written word still important? Are we losing our ability to write? 2. What does the enormous amount of labor required to build something like Stonehenge say about their culture? Compare this to our “ticky-tacky” houses and strip malls, and what that says about our culture. Do we have structures that will endure as Stonehenge did? What will our progenitors think about us thousands of years from now, based on what we leave behind? 3. The Hebrew law known as the Ten Commandments taught that man should not take the name of Yahweh (Jehovah) in vain. In fact they were not even supposed to speak or write the name of deity. Today there is much discussion about the use of profanity in public places and in the media. What do you think about that topic?
