Franz Kafka’s Metamorphosis tells a tale of alienation as attributed to the protagonist’s plight. Gregor Samsa awakens to the realization that he has transformed into a giant insect. His existential crisis is evident in the juxtaposition of his apprehension with tasks and ordinary concerns and the incongruity of the social world.
